Four years ago, I went on an internship in Indonesia. I was supposed to have my internship in Chelyabinsk, Russia but we had a hard time processing the visa. It was half way through the summer and school starts in 6 weeks so I decided to look for another internship. I found myself in Indonesia a week later, making my way to Malang. I wanted to go on exchange because I wanted to see the world. I wanted to touch deserts and see how it meets the open sky. Going to Indonesia wasn’t what I planned but it’s incredible because I dreamt of seeing this scene a million times over in my head and I can’t believe I actually saw it.

It was as if the place knew that I saw it a thousand times before and that it was just as excited to come face to face with me.
