Venice De Castro Atienza’s directing, cinematographic, and production practice focuses on personal and societal transformations manifesting in everyday life.

After graduating from the DocNomads Erasmus Mundus Program she longed to bring to life stories of invisible universes. This led her and Taiwanese director, Fan Wu to build Svemirko Film and Audiovisual Art Productions.

Her first feature film, “Last Days at Sea” is supported by the IDFA Bertha Fund. It premiered at the 71st Berlinale – Generation KPlus, Visions du Réel 2021, Hot Docs and IDFA – International Documentary Filmfestival Amsterdam.

She is produced Taiwanese film director Fan WU’s documentary entitled “XiXi”. The film is supported by the Sundance Institute, Asian Cinema Fund – Asian Network of Documentary Fund. The film screened in Busan International Film Festival, Taipei Golden Horse Festival, Taipei Film Festival to name a few. It won awards in HotDocs, and Women Film Festival in Taiwan.

She was part of the International Jury of the 73rd Berlinale – Generation KPlus 2023 and the UNICEF Innocenti Film Festival 2021. She’s also served as a reader for the HotDocs Crosscurrents Fund.
