Happy New Year

This was what my new life looked like. I first saw it through a tiny window in an airplane.

Two years ago, on New Year’s eve, I sent an application for a scholarship to a Documentary Film Directing Program. I had no certainty on anything, but I had decided to just give it all I’ve got when I sent my application video.

I distinctly remember, telling myself to ‘just be myself’ and see where it goes.

Many times, I thought being myself was never going to work, so I rarely gave it a shot. But when I did, that one time that I did, I wasn’t let down.

Happy new year.

I hope you have great, big, roaring, tight rope walking, uninhibitedly dancing crazy dances, dreams.

But more importantly, that you have the quiet trust in your(not-particularly-sure-of-everything)self to make a small effort toward that dream. Because sometimes, though it didn’t a hundred times before, this time, it just might work.
